But I heard the quaife and other helical type lsd's don't give the performance that clutch type lsd will when it comes to launching?

I have a Quaife in mine, and I love it. Car even drives better with it, has a more quality feel to it. But, they are not cheap, but if the tranny is newer or has low milage you can press the old bearings back into the new diff.

When installing new bearings (Ball or Taper) on a Hydrolock tranny, make sure its either (40X80X18/19.5) or (40x80x17). It will say on the bearing.
Certain JDM trannies will take one of the two.
This is from experience.

And Quaife is my pick.
