Guys plain and Simple A Turbo is a Supercharger Turbo means turbine !!! for chirst sake !!! Turbines are driven by gas's Therfore a Exhaust driven turbine supercharger is a TurboCharger ! But as john said peoiple will always refer to them seperatly but The fact remains if your turbocharged you are actually supercharged lol !!

Cept... that still hasn't changed my mind that a TURBO is a SUPERCHARGER....

It simply is not. There are too many differences, in both how they work, and how they are designed. Just because they DO the same thing does not make them the same.

A car and a truck both do the same, they run the same (for the most part). However, we refer to them seperatly, and always will.

Just as they are both automobiles... a turbo and a supercharger, are in fact means of forced induction.

That's how I see it.

lol theres not much else i can say turbo is short hand for Turbine its like a made up seperate FI system. People just started using the cintrifugal design and slapping on TURBINEs that get powered by the exhaust, But then again you can a Axial style isnt a Supercharger either you could call it a jet engine but then again it superchargers air into a conmprssed area and is ignited with fuel to produce thurst. And then theres the wankle rotray the only think over a SC itself is the fact it buidls pressure by combustion but you could run it witouth any compustionyou could shaft drive it and use the exhaust as a Charge system into anoth type of intake and bam you have a Rotary Supercharger !

just follow the same definition as everyone else...
turbo=exhaust driven for positive manifold pressure
supercharger=crank driven (gear, belt, team of conscripts, whatever)

and lets not forget that we owe lots of this to the archimedes screw.

just as all other things, technology makes advances. logic would dictate that the turbo succeeded the 'super'charger.

and wow, how come they didn't put this on 'Tactical to Practical'

look everytime youi calss the as being diferent your wrong ! Supercharger is like the Human Race ! and the types are the types of people white blac asian mexican etc but you call them all humans !

A Turbocharger is a Turbine Driven Suprcahrger Plain and simple ! So a Turbo isnt a wounder of creation as most people think like theres a Batele between the two when in fact the supercharger is the father of turbos !
