Default b16 questions, or honda motors in general.

ok. was tossing thew idea around of keeping my sol and not sellingit, and then putting just a b16 in. i know a guy who has a b16 he might sell, but im pretty sure its obd0. what ive heard is that the only thing that makes a motor a certain obd is dependant on only the injectors, and the disty. is this true? so, i can buy an obd0 b16, swap out for an obd1 disty, and then obd1 b16 fuel injectors and i can run the motor as obd1? if this is true, why havent i heard of people doing this all the time? obd0 motors are cheaper than obd1. and would i still need to buy an obd0-obd1 conversion kit for my car if i replaced these parts on the motor?

All you will need to change on the obd0 motor is the injectors, distributor, alternator.
You can use the obd1 injectors off your current motor.
You will retain your engine harness.
You will need a obd1 dohc vtec ecu.
You will need a rear delsol DOHC vtec motor mount bracket if you don't already have a DOHC motor in your delsol.
You may need a top drivers side motor mount to bolt onto the obd0 b16 motor.

Another problem you may run into is the tranny. I am guessing you already have a hydrolic bseries tranny.

obd0 and obd1 alternators are the same. obd2 have a different plug.

people usually don't do it because obd0 motors are older...they have more mileage and are more prone to failure. in addition to that as the obd's progressed upgrades were made to the motors that carried over such as the b16. slight improvements were made each generation that resulted in a better performing motor such as....ok i admit just had a brain fart...but its true I swear lol

The best engine in the world is the vagina, it takes any size piston, its self lubricating, starts with 1 finger, and every 4 weeks does its own oil change. It's just a pity the management system is so fucking temperamental.
