Having probs with rear strut bolt on EG JOHN?
I am having problems removing the ONE bolt that appears to go through the bottom of the strut and related bushings through the lower trailing arm. The nut was seriously overtightened I was able to loosen it with a 4 foot breaker bar and a half inch drive 19mm impact socket. The bolt however will NOT come out i have hammered the hell out of it and tried to turn it with a 14mm impact gun @ 125psi. I would like to get these struts out so that I can install the springs if anyone with a shop in the Tampa area can do this (even if it means drilling out the bolt and replacing it) let me know and Ill be there ASAP. John can SpecR do this work?
Thanks
Rich
Thanks
Rich

If its loose but not coming out there are two things that you can do:
1) Get a floor jack and raise the arm up a little at a time until the bolt comes loose.
2) If the above doesnt work youre screwed because youve broken the bolt. Not hard to get out though. Just use above method and some good vise grips.

You know I thought about that and I actually put a jackstand under the arm and lowered it onto the stand to alleviate pressure which didnt seem to help either. Unfortunately I have a healing up broken collarbone and im kinda limited to what I can do underneath the car. I might just give it another week. Thanks.

Just reread your post and Ive got some other suggestions.
Are you having problems with the rear or the front? On the rear the strut attaches to the lower control arm and the nut is actually welded to the shock.
On the front the shock is held by the fork and all you have to do is release the pinch bolt at the rear and push down on the suspension to pop the shock out.
Now back to the rear suspension. If youre really having that much trouble perhaps you didnt unbolt bolt that connects the trailing arm to the lower control arm. Its right by the rear brake assembly. Unbolt that bolt pull the brake assembly up and off and the rear control arm will just sag giving you enough play to get the bolt out. If it still doesnt come out youve got a busted bolt.

Doh just looked at the topic title.
Its definately the rear then.
Well just do what I said above and it will come easy. By the way to clarify the above the control arm has 3 bolts on it one where it connects to the frame pivot point one where it connects to the strut/shock and one where it connects to the trailing arm. Take all of em off but the frame pivot bolt.
