h22 in a del sol
h22 in a del sol
i want to put a h22 in my del sol and i was wondering how much mods i need to do to get it to fit, and the side effects of the additional 185 pounds in the front, will it ruin driveablity or too much understeer. Also i was wondering if anyone knows of a good web site or place that sells good jdm engine swaps. Thanks
the mount kit is 650 from hasport...i think your better off doing an lsvtec or itr swap...putting an h22 in is going to be a huge pain in the ass.

not to mention you can get the same, if not better results with a b18

An H22 is one huge beehatch!....i read in a magazine that the only way to fit an H motor in a sol is to convert it to the trunk.........too much $$$$$
It would be cool though.....stick w/ Lsvtec like crx/nsxhybrid said

not exactly, some sol's came with b16's and some minor differences in engine bay design...
with the shit you'd go through putting in a h22 in and especially all the costs, your better off spending like 4500 for an ITR swap and gettin the same HP...even though you can get an h22 for like 2300...with all the fabrication and bullshit your going through, itll cost ya more in the end.

del sols also came with 1.6 sohc motors, im pretty sure its the same frame as a civic, and i agree doing a h22 swap is a bitch but probably more reliable then an ls/vtec....unless you build it right which is really expensive. prelude motors are cheap, like 2300 + 600 for the mount kit. i would go h22, it would make as much or more power stock as the ls/vtec would
no bashing ls/vtec its as reliable as you make it...if you spent the same amount of money for putting a h22 in (and making it reliable, i.e. NO BROKEN AXLE EVERY MONTH) and doing an ls/vtec...the ls/vtec or b20/vtec would be just as reliable. reliability is also very much based on the driver.
