looks pretty. whats that coating on the chambers?

 

Unfortunately I'm unsure as to exactly what sort of coating it is, but I do know it is a heat resistant coating to help deter detonation.

The motor is out of the car....

As soon as a few select parts arrive this week, the built motor will be assembled and installed.

 

Were you running just ARP's or are those L19's? and is the built block going to have balance shafts?

 

he was running regular arps. didnt lift the head as far as 46psi. lol

built setup is with l19 and balance shafts removed.

 

What type of main/rod bearings? With that built head he should be revving to 9k+ rpm's now

 

theres no point of revving higher if the car isnt making power up there ..
thats one cause of most failures. people automaticlly think just because you can rev it that you should.

The main reason its built is so he can ring out 4th to make a trap .

When the turbo gets swapped itll be another story .lol

 

You hit the nail on the head. Just to reiterate this point further, previously on my 9 second pass with this turbo setup I was shifting at 8,000rpms even and revving out to approx: 8,700rpms through the traps. Even with the increase in power from the motor/port work, the power curve will be relatively similar which will make the ideal shift points about the same as before. There is no reason to ring these motors out to 9,000rpms for shifting unless your running 85lbs/min + turbo setups. Anyone who revs a 4g63 that high with a smaller setup is not only making their car slower by taking it out of its powerband, but is also being wreckless and irresponsible with their motor as well.

 

Sorry for the delay on updates everyone. I've been waiting on parts and have been quite busy with customers cars as of late, that I've been neglecting my own car.

I'm happy to report we have finished assembling the motor and it's finally back in the car. The remainder of the parts should arrive next week for final assembly. {thumbup}
