If you're wondering whether or not car builds on TV are smoke and mirrors, I thought I would let you in on a little 'secret': most are not. Several months ago, I needed to go to the Western side of Florida after a show in Eastern Florida to help some guys get a RideTech suspension installed. Having no idea what I was getting into, I rolled up to the shop with my rig and prepared to sweat some more in the Florida heat and humidity.

Right off the bat, I was greeted with Dennis Pittsenbarger's larger than life personality. Next I met this guy named Slick, who's name was on the door. Immediately, I figured at the very least I'd have a good time helping out some funny guys with a Camaro build that I can do in my sleep. If the TV show ever saw the light of day, cool... if it ended up on some backwoods network at 3am, so be it. I spent the next three-plus days wrenching, sweating and doing my best to help the great crew at Slick's get a first gen Camaro finished. I'm here to tell you that we worked late into the night and early in the morning. The demands of building a car in a short period of time, in addition to building content for a television show is a ball-buster for sure. Eventually, I had to leave the guys to work a show in Texas and I had two-plus days of driving ahead of me. I can also tell you that every bit of stress you see those guys emit, is not just for the camera, there is a real deadline, real-world trials and tribulations and basically real-world stress. I congratulate Slick and Dennis for the show that, no doubt, will give them plenty of grey hair and likely little money; in return for what eventually will wind up with them not being able to go to 7-11 without being mobbed. Congratulations Guys
