i'm guessing 04 model will be the blue.
it will be a late 2003.5 model....
The protege will be completely replaced by another car in 2004.

Have you picked up your new mazdaspeed yet?

hey shit I missed like all these posts!

The 2003's come in 2 colors black mica and tangerine. They only made 1750 of these and most of which are gone by now. The 2003.5 comes in Yellow and Titanium, I am not sure how many they plan on making. The 2003.5's also do not come with the fog lights in the front and a lot nice front bumper. Mazdaspeed interior is there instead of Sparco, they also have yellow stiching on the seats sooo...

Now to performance...yeah! Okie dokie 150 hp stock on the dyno some have reported 5-10 higher/lower big deal, blah. Injen makes intakes that run around $250.00 I have installed one on a friend of mines along with a FPR kit ...WOW! Night and day difference. FPR = Fuel Pressure Reducer by the way. These car supposedly run open loop FP after 4900 RPM's and it creates and horrible stumble. This is not a Fuel cut defender which we also need if running more than 13 or so psi on non-race gas. I had this problem on my car but it fixed it. As well adding a front mount adds to the hesitation and stumble. The exhaust system that comes stock really sucks due to 2 cats and a resonator, I have taken this off and added a 02 eliminator so as not get a code. hehe

For true HP numbers not that many ppl can go over 16 psi or so without creating some bad detonation and so on. A guy on a MSP forum reported with only 116 race gas and 23 psi had like 230 hp so... the same guy ran a 14.2 with 10 psi and gutted cats with a FPR, nothing else.

And if anyone is looking into buying a exhaust for a mazdaspeed PM me because a friend of mine makes exhaust. Not shit work, it will be 3 inch or whatever you want, mandrel bent with any muffler you prefer, with flanges so it can be unboltable for the trips to the dealer. It should only run around $400.00 or so which is better than most which are like $1,250.

Sorry for the long post and hope this informed everyone, I try to keep on top of anything MSP. Any Q's PM me or post and I will be willing to help.

I wanna get like 3 or more people to do this so I don't burden him. Me and a friend already are getting things ready but I am broke as hell right now. Possible 1 month or so is when we will probably get it done. I can tell you he put a turbo kit on my friends OZ edition lancer and it is badass. He was trying to talk about a different trim for our cars but I like my warranty. I'll keep in touch MSPEED2, PM me if you wanna meet up sometime. That goes for anyone with a Mazdaspeed...of course.

that's horrible...

The turbo is way too small, and he's WAY INTO the inefficient part of the compressor map at 23 psi.

FWIW, the 1.6L Protege turbo guys are getting ~200whp on pump gas at under 15 psi. The FS is a better turbo motor...do the math.
