Default protege ES

hey guys i am new to the forums just got a couple questions about my protege. I am thinking about an engine swap but the engine i have now is the 2.0L DOHC with 135hp and i think this engine will give me more options but if there is a better engine out there i will definitly look into it.. any suggestions?

my other question is how difficult is it to install the turbo?

1. You may not have enough room, the klze in the protege is a REAL TIGHT fit, so you may have a jam packed engine bay like a 300zx.

2. Your crossmembers may be different and may not work without some real fabrication.

3.Your stock tranny may not fit the v6 block so you may have to buy a used tranny, axles, half shaft, mounts, etc.....and let me tell you it is NOT cheap for your car, if you had an older car, it would be different.

Anyway theres alot to consider man, its not a stroll in the park. I'd go for something a bit more reasonable and something thats been done before. I'd personally just make do with what you have. If you had a first gen protege, then you would have ALOT more options. Anyways good luck and if you need a hand, let me know. Peace
I heard the fs-de tranny is the same as the klze

If u want more power just shop around for a fs-ze motor. its the jdm motor and its 170hp stock with no turbo.

Anyone correct me if i'm wrong. and good luck. It should be nice if u do go through w/ it.

markv6gt you drive a fwd probe, you have no room to talk. and what makes an automatic a "ricer" there are plenty of auto cars out there on TR and i doubt you would call them a ricer. btw old vw's had v4's

now onto the subject at hand, spyd3r. it would be wise to keep your I4 and to do intake, exhaust, clutch, internals, and just boost the piss out of it. if youre willing to do the work of a motor swap, this will be easier.
sry wasnt paying attention. I agree with not making fun of him about it.

if u do turbo, dont go crazy peak at 9psi. my 2003 pro5 stock motor only holds 10psi to be safe. anything more is a denger and forged is suggested. 9psi peak would put u at over 180hp, but i'm not an expert at all.

I would say intake, exhaust, clutch, headers and if u want a lightwieght flywheel or lightweight pulley set. lol

This thread is pretty old 4 years old. But the 2.0 is a motor that u dont want to be modding. I think its just a weak motor not even worth the boost.
