It was more than a better ECU that bumped the S5 from 146 to 160 hp. A better flowing MAF, Lighterweight rotors/rotating assembly, higher compression rotors, the different dynamic chamber + VDI.

You guys are free to use whatever nomenclature you want (because this America godammit!) but don't be surprised when someone asks WTF you're talking about.

Before you guys get your panties in a bunch I will use a FB Vin as an example.

JMZFB131200600001

JMZ - Means it was a Japanese Manufactured mazda car.
F - Represents the car line. F = RX-7
B - Means the generation of the vehicle. Since there is a B in this vin it means the car was made sometime between 81-85
1 - Country code.
3 = Bodystyle code. Since it shows a 3 that means it's a coupe.
1 - The engine. Since it shows a one for an FB that means it has a a 12A. If it had a 2 ,3 or a B(Which I think only Japan got the REW) it would represent which 13B engine it had. Since there were 3 different 13b's it would be either a S2, S3, or a SB engine. That's how I've always been taught.

2 = The transmission code. 2 means it's a 5SPD.
00 - Means which city it was made in. Since it shows a 00 it was made in Hiroshima.
60001 - Is the serial code for the model.

Like I said before. Ever since I was growing up I was referred to them as either being a 1 or 2. Regardless if this information was correct for the FC generation I was told it either had a S1 engine or an S2 engine which would determine the different type of 13B engines in them since both of them were different. So stop bitching about it. I never said I made it up. I said it was taught to me ever since I have been working on these engines and we're going back 15 something years.

Are you still looking to sell this? What are the compression numbers on it?

Hey guys, I know this post is really old, but I was asking how much the car was worth because I wanted to buy it & sell it for a profit. Now that I've ridden in my friends, I want to buy the car for myself. The lady is asking $2k for it. How much would I be able to give her & not be completely screwing her on the price? The only thing is that the car has been sitting for about a year, so most of the fluids would have to be flushed/replaced, so I think that would excuse the lowering of the price.

I've thought about doing exactly that, because doing all of that work on a car I just bought isn't exactly desired lol. I will say it will be nice to have a sporty-ish car as my secondary. I'm getting tired of driving my automatic civic everywhere...

Oh I saw this car, up in Jax. well, saw on CL.

2000 is fair, try for 1500 & go up from there. Sitting is fine too, i own 2 cars that sat years, one from 03-now, the other 05-11. one has 68k, the other 101k. Just change out what needs to be from sitting & enjoy. But DO post pictures for my viewing pleasure.

Not true on 50k. lol. Parent's paid $1500 for this car with 68k miles, sitting since 2005. Gave it to me for graduation.

I put $1500 more into.

Here's the story line-
