Who hates their car?
Who hates their car?

I just realized that the crappy wiring the previous owner left me with was on the verge of catching on fire every time I turned on the lights. I'd been driving around for hours with these on before my slave cylinder went, and when I started my attempt at fixing the two remaining unlit lights this sunday I noticed smoke pouring off of the wiring just before I touched it and found that it was superheated after only 3 minutes of having the lights on.
I'm considering looking in CAPS to see if they have a part number for "Complete wiring harness front to back". Then I'm going to go rip half my hair out at the thought of having to completely replace all the wiring in the car. Looking at the spaghetti wiring it seems easier in some ways than rewiring it one thing at a time, though.
Also I've got to deal with around 5 urgent problems with the car as soon as I find the time to work on it, which is hard when I have to beg rides to my parents' house every time. I'm hoping that the second parts store I've ordered the slave cylinder kit from got the right part, or another week will go by while I try to find another store that has it, find a ride to that store to order it, find a ride to that store to pick it up, then go back and work on the car in the middle of the street. Only when those things are done can I deal with the fire-hazard wiring, leaking transfer case, oil-puddle-in-the-exhaust/ bad compression/loud ticking noise engine, belt squeal that's causing 17.5 volts from the alternator, dead clutch and something else I've no doubt forgotten.
OK, sorry for the rant, I just hate working on the car in slow motion with no money and not "knowing" how to do any of this until I finish the last step on the vfaq printout. I feel slightly better now.

I wouldn't say that I "hate" my car yet, but I just bought it, and I have been trying to catch up on undone maintenance and things. Of course when i test drove it, and the day that I bought it, it was flawless. Since then:
Car had foglights - tore them off and played baseball at the shop with a lead pipe
Car had nasty window tint - spent like 6 hours taking it off
Car had bad window trim - bought new trim today, haven't installed it yet
Clutch is not disengaging all of the way and when it does, its on the floor - Welded nut onto MC/rod bracket
Clip that holds shifter cable in place on tranny fell out or was rigged up and never noticed - replaced clip but had to drive with hardly any gears and destroyed my clutch/maybe flywheel...
Car not finding gears so easily right now - probably related to the linkage, but possibly related to mechanical or hydraulic clutch problem
Car is overheating - keep adding water, haven't gotten around to this one yet
If i can't keep this car in drivable condition, i have to borrow my buddy's Jetta that isn't much better than walking...
Good luck man I feel ya. At least when you replace everything you can possibly think of and afford to buy parts for, it will be done right.

good luck with your wiring mess. Thankfully I have never had to deal with that nightmare. Yet anyways!

Since ive boughten the G I dont think Ive gotten to drive it but once. Piston rings need replaced as well as the turbo and just some other little minor things. Welcome to the club eh?
i did hate my car, but since i fixed 2nd gear(again) im happy with it, again.
Ok. i take it all back, I love my car again. Fixed a few issues today and it is driving great. New gripe though.. one of the previous jackass owners glued in the under-window moulding. I think i might have to take apart the door to get the outer most piece off, and then scrape and have much fun getting all of the GUNK out of there. Anyone ever taken off the moulding right under the window trim on an early 1g talon? I believe the mirror has to come off, and possibly the door skin. Shoot me a PM if you have the experience and wish to share-
