Default New Car: 1991 Eagle Talon AWD Turbo

well, i just picked up an eagle talon for a great price...and all it needs is a fuel pump.

now i'm a honda person...and up until this point have ONLY owned honda's...so please have patience with my questions about dsm's.

i'm looking to get a walbro 255 for a fuel pump...

and i'm also looking to sell my ITR Civic (it may already be sold) because i'm bored with it.

so anyway...the talon has a 6 bolt motor and i think it has a 3 bolt rear end. i'm beginning to learn about the differences between the motors and the rear ends and i'm probably going to pick up a 4 bolt rear end.

as far as performance...i'd like to run 18lbs safely...just to see how the car responds. what are the bare minimum mods needed to run 18psi...and what is the cheapest route. with my last project i spent around 10k on my civic and although it was fast...i spent the money to make it fast which somehow made it less enjoyable. with this project, i want to spend under 3k and get deep into the 12's...

thanks for all of your advice in advance...

youll need a fuel pump and remove your lower honeycomb on the MAF to run the 18psi you want...with cold weather coming, stock the way it is, 16 or even 15psi on a stock 1G might cause fuel cut.

i got into the 13's with 65 bux of stuff done so you'd be suprised what 3k will do

big 16G - 600
evo3/2G exhaust manifold - ~200
ported 02 housing(evo3?) - 200
cutout for the exhaust - 35 (100 for electronic)
AFC - ~200(older style
Manual boost controller - 5.82 (home depot )
dremeled down pipe - Free
fuel pump - 120
starion FMIC/Supra SMIC - 150
misc piping for that - 65?
550cc injectors - 250
K&N filter kit - 40
ACT 2600 - 450???
Boost guage - 55
EGT - 150
wideband 02 - 350
datalogger and palm - 200
and do all your free mods aswell

free mods, mbc and K&N put me in 13.9 w/ 1.7 60's on the stock clutch and everything

nice buy...all I have to say is if its black an silver..........I hate you. j/k, thats the colors of my car and I have not seen any others in the area.

You wont need a new rear end till yours breaks, thats what I did anyway. when it does break you can find a 4bolt for around 400 bucks.

There was a 92 model made thats the prefect car, but It does not have pop-ups, it got the 6bolt, 4bolt rear end, and big brakes. Very rare car to find, but again..I will take the pop-ups.

you really dont need a wideband 02 sensor or an egt guage. If you have a datalogger and something to control your fuel, thats all you need.

The datalogger has been far the best thing I have ever purchased for my car.

The 92 w/ a 6bolt motor 4 bolt rear did not come with big brakes. Only 7 bolt AWD`s have big brakes.

I'm pretty sure they made a very few amount like 100 cars with the 6bolt that also got big brakes.

but I dont have acutal data to back this up. So maybe not. I was pretty sure that I have seen a car with all three of thoes options before on a stock car.

if the production date is a 92 model year but before sept of 92, then it is a 6/4..the laser was a 6/4 i dont think a 3 bolt woulda handled my launching anyways.
