If you really believed this statement then why do you own a DSM with thier reputation.

OK, everybody hates dsmtalk, we've got that established. So, where are we supposed to go? I'm already at tbdsm, are you talking about nabr? I don't like how they have a "private section" and I have to work with the public section, it just seems like the board has an "uppity" feel to it. That's the impression I get from the outside and from some of the reading/searches I've done there.

I doesn't matter if you like the way NABR "Feels" or not. They have the best info. The Tech Archives on the Public board come directly from the private board after a short period of time. Most of the members of the pvivate board are active on the public board too so if you have a question you can ask it... to the same people that are on the private board.

To me, it comes down to the fact that I'd rather take advice from people who have proven themselves with results.

Now why would you want to go and do something crazy like that.

Hmm... I went back to nabr again, read around more, didn't focus on the searches like I did before (when I visited it occasionally over the last few months it was to run searches and nothing more), and I'll admit I was wrong. It does seem like a much more reliable source of information, the people on there are in general much more knowledgeable than the people on dsmtalk. I usually have to find a mod's response before I can trust that I've found worthwhile information on dsmtalk, I feel more confident in the info I find on nabr simply because the people seem to better know what they're talking about.

Now the only problem I have with nabr is that they usually don't focus on all the n00b shit I need to run searches on

cuz its all i can afford to own... plus, i like to know my monthly payments actually pay for a car that is improving rather than buying a new car where i pay for the depreciation... would you rather pay $400 a month to improve a car or $400 a month to 'use up' a car?

anywho. i 'feel' that NABR has good info but i also agree that NABR has an elitist feel to it...much the same way that MKIV supra owners look down upon MKIII or even MKII Supra owners. i think NABR is that way because you have to have an email account that is not a free domain like MSN or Yahoo or even AOL. Which normally means one has to pay for a real email account. people w/ money to spare are usually more educated and have a better job than the punk kids on DSMtalk and your local boards.

DSMtalk just has a bigger noise to signal ratio... where most of it is noise and one would have to filter thru it to get to the good 'signal' or info. Nabr has a low noise to signal ratio since the fact that you have to even Know what youre talkin about (or else youll get laughed right off the board) and a pay-email domain to simply sign up.

RX7club and supraforums have the same problem... alot of misinformed newbies propagating bad info and you would have to filter thru all that crap to find the relavant info.

i havent joined up yet, but id like to get a TR email acct and join NABR so i can do searches easier.

jordan, have you found many complaints about AGX front strut failures? also, whats the general consensus about the koni yellow cartridges?

btw, i put the AGX's on the rear cuz i think they are a completely different design than the failure-prone front AGX's... so hopefully they will work out for me ok. if i cant return my AGX's to my retailer, i may just butchur them up so i can install my Koni's

Registering for the public NABR board will not effect your ability to do searches. You dont have to be a member to search. As for the private board, having a real email account alone wont get you in.

I used to use roadrunner and i had a RR email. It was tnoonen@tambaybay.rr.com I now use earthlink high speed. You need to set up your RR email account. It comes with your service. You can actually have several of them(emails). But you dont need anything to just search the archives. NABR is not to my knowledge taking on new members at this time for the private board. But the archives has tons of great info that is all fairly new.
