hey sean...was the timing indeed off...'cause while i was there, damon spun the exhaust cam (i think 2) turns and it had compression in 2,4 of only 60 psi...but, i had to get home so i wasn't there for the conclusion...very interested to find out exactly what went wrong...2 years on the shelf is a long f*ckin' time, so....

 

9 months on the shelf ....ok, the final problem appears to have been that i was stupid and did not pump down the lifters before putting the motor back in .....all seems to be well now, and i expect to be driving it to sonic tonite

LOL, silly lifters, I thought they just made alot of noise when you didn't pre pump them.

 

yeah, if you pump them up before going in there is also a chance of bending valves.
