2g gsx/gst
Of course the xfer case issue is important. But how many times has it happened? As we can see there has been an instance of someone hearing it happened but no proof. I am sure it did but it isn't rampant. I am sure there are more cases of Crank Walk than xfer case. It is a serious thing if it happens. So if you by a GSX or TSI AWD then have it checked out at the dealer. Request all recall info on the vehicle. If they won't give it to you or hassle you then you have to make the decision to buy the vehicle and pay for the inspection on it or look for another one.
Go to DSMtuners.com as they have the recalls listed.

I have had a 95 GST for about 3 years and it has been a good car to me. I bought it at 72k and it had a new motor. Since then I had to replace the original clutch and my TSP went out. That's not too bad for 3 years. I really believe that if you take care of your DSM, change your oil and timing belt, and don't drive it crazy all the time you shouldn't have too many problems.

I agree that it all depends on how you drive your car. Iv had my car for almost 2 years now, ill admit that i have raced my car here and there but overall throughout the day i drive normal. I havent really had anybig problems concerning the engine or anything like that. I did have to replace the clutch at 90k but that just seems normal to me. I also bought my car off an old grandma that drove like a snail, so the car was in really good shape. Other than replacing the clutch, the interior seems the only thing nagging me besides a jamned lock in my driver side door. But small stuff like that just comes with owning a dsm.
