crank pulley (broke) need new one
crank pulley (broke) need new one
hey, my crank pulley went the other day... I went to buy a new one and it cost 125 I went to the junk yard and could only find one that had been welded in the front and the back. I am assuming that they did it to keep it from breaking (or maybe it broke) Well, what I want to know is:
by putting this welded pulley on my car (it is probably unbalanced) will it hurt my crank until I can get a new one?
Where can I get a good aftermarket pulley that will work well on my machine?
"OEM DAMPER PULLEY 1G" is this the same thing at Buschur racing? Is this what I need?

You can pick up aluminum underdrive pulleys off ebay for 50 bucks..
You get what you pay for, but they work.

I bit the bulet when mine went on my 2g and went to the dealer, good thing I didn't have to pay for it myself.
I wouldn't put a crank pulley that was welded on there.
Have fun manuvering the old one out/new one in. I know I did.

Mine just did this too me as well. I went with the unorthodox underdrive pulley from slowboy. Its been nice so far of course I really havent gotten to feel a difference cause im only running like 8 psi till i get some other issues resolved.
Undampened crank pullies have been known to cause problems, as in crank failure problems. There's still debate on the subject, and you can run one if you want to, but I wouldn't run anything but the OEM pulley or the Buschur Pulley (except that the Buschur pulley is 3x as much as a new stocker, and supposedly it is actually heavier than the stock pulley, although it may not be as prone to failure as the stocker is).

Do you have any documented proof of this? I did a shit load of research before purchasing mine, heard the warnings over and over again...but was unable to find even an ounce of solid proof pointing at an underdrive pulley as the main cause of any sort of problems. Yet to have a issue with mine, knock on wood.

Here, this one thread will do: http://tinyurl.com/3kwmn
I don't like linking to that board, but there's no other way of backing up what I said.
Summary: Buschur, John Shepherd, and Marco at Magnus have good reasons for running a dampened pulley. That's good enough for me.
