Default Big Problem

I'll explain the symptoms:

I was doing a 1st gear pull and at approx 5500rpms the car died.
Sitting on the side of the road in the dark I check the plug wires, and the engine bay for what I could. The car cranks but will not start.

The gauges do not register any rpm as I try to crank her over.
My a/f guage doesnt respond either and stays unilluminated during my cranking attempts.

Has anyone experienced this?
Any Ideas on what could be causing this?

Any help is much appreciated,
Steve

Check every electrical connection everywhere. I had my car cut out on me when my cas would come unpluged and if it wasn't pluged in right it would just turn over.

OK, there is no spark.

Besides the coil what else could be causing this problem?

Ive heard that the coil on plug are about the same price as getting a new coil pack......

Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks, steve

A DSM coil pack can be had on ebay for $20, or locally for a good price. Last I checked, Coil on Plug setups were going for 400+.

No.
It is no where near the mas.
Dont you have a chiltons manual or the DSM manual on CD.
Look it up. It is not far from the coil on the back of the motor right under where the ignition wires come out from under the plastic cover that goes over the valve cover. Dont know how else to explain it. :bbb:
