DSM Jerry, who is this guy
The whole 4g63/4 arguement is pretty much like the one of what is a real dsm or not. The point is he is not running a 2L motor, but is still running a variation of that motor. Kind of like a 408 ls1 is still an ls1.

yea I understand I was just told something and wondering if it was true.
oh , if I got a 1.6 HEAD and a 2.4 BOTTOM do I tell ppl its a 4g63? what part of the engine to you classify as the greater part to give a engine code off of.

I'm not sure if you can use a 1.6 head on a 2.4 bottom. I would go with the engine code of the block if anything. If you use a 4g63 block and bore/stroke it then to me it's still a 4g63 just a stroker. If you use a 4g64 block out of a sonata then it is a 4g64. If I was going to do anything I would do a 4g64 block and destroke it to a 2L. Don't ask me why though.
2.1 destroker! I wish I had the cash for the valvetrain to support the revs that bottom end can. I've seen a few people considering buildups with the 1.6 crank in the 2.4 block . If it actually works, jeez, 14-15k rpm, probably. Pure bragging rights kind of thing, but neat if it has any chance of working. Those would be some really long rods.
I myself am considering doing a 2.1 through overbore. The general consensus seems to be that you can go to around .080, 1.00 might work but I've never seen anybody do it, except on the 2.4 blocks, where they start at .060 over and go up to .040 over from there. I'd probably do a .060 just to let me bore the block at least once again, but I might just go to the .080 right off to get 2092 cc. Cheapest route I see to more displacement, it doesn't cost me anything more to order .080 pistons or have the machine shop bore it out more. I'll just pick up a spare block to do up if something ever goes wrong. In addition to the "spare" block I have in my car right now.
