4g63 is better, may not be that much better stock, but why would you want a 420a over the 4g63? cant turbo the 420a like you can a 4g63.

You just made the most ridiculous comment of your life. If you say you cant turbo a 420A like you can a 4G63, then What am I doing with a turbo on mine?? What about the other boosted 420A's that are on TR as well??? Do you think out cars just decided one night, "I think I'll grow on turbo on my exhaust manifold overnight, that would be really cool". Do me a favor and dont comment on things you have no Idea about and worry about your own motor for now. If you even got it fixed from the last time you blew it up.

Dont get me wrong guys, everyone is entitled to their opinion and being a 420A guy I know I am partial but I personally have seen 4G63's that have been properly built and tuned go into the 400+hp ranges and to those people who know what they are doing I have the most repect for. What I dont like is idiotic comments of some people that think they can do a simple 6 bolt swap, crank your boost controller all the way up and think " I can go faster than you can."

As I said in the previous post you replied to, there is a couple of HP difference but not much and I completely agree with you. The stock 4G63 n/t makes a little more power than the 420A but I think its because of the heads on 4g63 vs the 420A. I could be wrong though since I never have seen the head 4g63 n/a.

You have a point, but how many 420a do you know that can handle 500hp on a stock block? I dont despise the neon motors, but I wouldnt want to waste time with one if I can have a motor built, proven and dependable from the factory to handle basically everything that is thrown at it. So I think he was leaning more towards this point.

You absolutely correct IMO. Like I said I have seen people go into the 400+ ranges, properly built and tuned and I have a lot of respect for them. To my knowledge, the closest a 420A has peaked at in HP is I think 375 - 400hp with 10.87 @ 136 MPH And this was on a 97 RS. Again it was properly built and tuned. As far as having a Proven and Dependable motor from factory, what car are you driving?? Cant be a DSM because all of them break down at one time or another, even the non DSM 420A's do LOL.

I was referring to the stock shortblock handling 500+hp....no built blocks..I do drive an 91 awd, but the only reason they break down is lack of maintenance, or people just beat the shit out of 14 year old cars, out of 5 cars I have owned, only 1 has never gave me any problems, and my last car had a hell of alot more problems than my talon. Any car will break, and every car has its own problems, dont beat the shit out of your car and be respectful for your property and they will last a long time. I hate that stereotype of dsm's being unreliable, its not the cars, its the owners.

I think he meant overall potential. An NA 4G63 is a set of pistons away from being a very stout engine under boost.
