For bang for the buck no other older import (90-99) will get faster. If you spend 2k on a swap on a nissan or honda you could be in the 12's with a dsm.

If you seriously don't know how to work on a car don't buy one.You want it to be reliable and a dsm with less work get a evo 8.

Hah, funny story about this. I was out with my friend Kris, who just bought a dsm, and we were doing a test run down Fowler by I-75. He went into boost in third and the passenger side IC pipe blew off, and we realized we'd forgotten to bring tools along. While we were waiting for a friend to bring some tools out we had a modified 2g turbo and about 2 minutes later a modified 1g blast by us staring at us as they passed. Frustrated, I climbed up to the median of I-75 to watch traffic go by and 30 seconds later yet another modified 2g flew past on I-75 with subs thumping. It was like the DSM gods were taunting us .

Seriously, dont buy a DSM...The main cause of DSM failure is
1. people modifing or working on them that has no clue what there doing
2. Trying to be cheap and cut corners. Yes you can be cheap, yes it will be fast, no it wont last
3. Or People like the Brothers and I, that build or have them built mainly to cause hell, that only last for so long....cant build a race car and beat it on a daily baises, I dont care what it is. I will say this, hp for hp, DSM's will generally take the abuse on stock internals like a champ better than most others would do and last longer!!!!

......................................The Moral of this is that its not the cars Fault its who's turning the wrenches... and yes 7 bolts is the only exception to that ......................

I know how to work on them, but I am impatient and will often cut a corner or two, or cant make up my mind on what cams to use or what turbo to pick, for that reason my car is always down. Its also for that reason that Jerry who is a "proffessional" is now being payed to do everything from a custom tranny, custom engine, down to just simply wiring up a few gauges. Why because if it survives the dyno/track time It will then be drivin not only responsibly but reliably.....

Thanks for reading, you may now go rest your eyes
