Default dont park behind your dads lifted truck.

Because then he probably wont see it and forget that you parked there and let this happen.....

excuse the dirtyness....its been a long week.

Now the fun part is finding another hood in mint condition and repainting it, although I had to match the bumper to the car and it turned out awesome when we painted it, so I think it will be fine. Just sucks to happen.

Don't you all have Insurance. Get a CF hood out of it. There cheaper then a brand new OEM.

Claiming insurance on a family member is not something I really want to do.

That's what insurance is for. If you don't have a bad rap sheet with your or the family members insurance, then it shouldn't cost you and the family member anything. Your rates don't necessarily go up for a single claim.

Actually your insurance does go up for simple claims. When "cherbear" sees this she'll explain more about it. She's an insurance agent and is FL licensed. People put in claims all the time for stupid things, such as one being "My power window stopped working". She had someone put in a claim for that. Guess what, insurance goes up. Guy had racoons in his vehicle, mom and babies. Well one of the babies was stuck inside the dash. Guy put in the claim, they needed to take his dash out so the racoon would be free and survive. Insurance will be going up. Insurance is not there to claim every little thing that happens to your car. A 1g DSM hood that will probably cost anywhere from $30-50 then painting it will save you a lot of money in the long run instead of having your insurance replace it and your insurance rate goes up. If anybody was smart enough you should know insurance companies are out there to make money, so any simple claim will still cost you.

All of what JDMevo said is true. Those examples that he used are stories that I told him of the calls that I get from people that make claims to me.

If he puts a claim with his insurance company the rate will go up. Ok say he does put the claim in with his insurance, what will happen is this, the company will figure out how much damage is done and pay out by that but then once that happens his premium will go up due to the claim and than if he goes to switch insurance companies that claim will stay with him to bite him in the ass because other companies look at what claims have been paid out from prior companies and they have a rating system that will cause the premiums to be high for him everywhere else he goes. Some companies do have a waive policy where they don't charge you extra for the first not at fault accident but it depends on the companies policy and it depends on how many claims he has put in already. But the policy that he has now the premium will go up. It doesn't matter if they are family members or not. If they have two separate insurance policies, SLOWBOOST's policy just considers the family member to be a claimant. If he is on his parents policy with his vehicle than there will be two claims in because it would be two insured vehicles involved and by law the person taking the claim will have to submit two claims even if his dads truck doesn't have any damage. Insurance is never fair. I was taught that in my licensing class.
