Default 2g GS motor swap?

well i was talking with my SRT-4 buddies about my eclipse and they were all like....."man you need to swap a 4g63 in there and then you'll keep up with us" and i explained that the GS comes with a totaly differnt bay set up then the GST. and when they noticed it was a NEON 2.0 dohc. they were telling me to swap an SRT-4 motor in there. I can get the hole stock motor with turbo and all for $600.

MY QUESTION IS......CAN IT BE DONE?????? AND HAS IT BEEN DONE????????

i've seen 98 neons that came with my motor swaped to srt4 motors so why not my eclipse? anyone????????

To sum it up you can't do the SRT-4 swap. I've already researched this and I too own a 420a powered Eclipse.

I'm sure it can be done but it wouldn't be worth all the effort, time and money. Engine swaps are not a Mitsubishi/Chrylser venture. These cars are not Honda's.

I know Team 2GNT Forums there's somewhere about this someone else posted this samething wanting to know about the SRT-4 motor.

Your probably better off swapping an Evo 8 engine in it then an SRT-4 motor. I know the Evo 8 engine has been done I've seen pictures months back. I just can't find any information on it anywhere.

BTW, the 420a in a Eclipse is not a neon motor. I don't know why people refer it to that. The intake manifold and exhaust manifold is on opposite sides and a bunch of other things are different as well.

Correction, the bottom end from the 95 - 99 neons and I believe up to 01 are exactly the same as the 2gnt's. The head is just on differently along with some of the accessories.

I have the link to it. It was a thread I posted up a while back. Evo Motors in a 2G Eclipse. Also has photos of Eclipses, with the Evo Brake setup as well.

Anytime bro'. How awesome would it be though, to have that setup? That is the perfect 4G63 there. BTW, I never payed attention to your "location" before. I got a kick out of it. Very creative.

Yeah, it really would. You can get GS-T's in great condition for great prices now a days. Keep your eyes peeled on Auto Trader, EBay, and the news paper. Even GSX's can be bought for a decent price, but are much harder to find. Try to get a 99' model year (if you're looking for the 97-99 style body), since those seem to be the least suspectible to crank walk, and I believe they have the revised lifters as well. If money is tight, a 95-96 would probably be your best bet, and you can do the 97-99 body conversion later, if you want.

Check the for sale forums here periodically as well. I've seen some decent deals being put up as of late.

actually a buddy of mine owns a dealer and has a sweet 98 gst, white 5 speed black leather, droped on coil overs, some nice 19'', front mount and all kids of shit under the hood, apexi this that and the other....lol. but yea some guy traded it in cause the tranny went bad, so he went and put another tranny and now its for sale...$5800. and i got my gs for $4700. oh...and the gst only has 90k miles on it. mine has 85k. but sence im makeing payments on the GS i cant trade it in so, that sucks.

anyone wanna buy my GS? pay off what i owe and its your? lol.
