Ok ok ok...

At idle,the motor is silent...no noises...Free revving,it does it around 2000rpm,then goes away,Driving is does it but goes away...What the fuck can this "knocking" noise be?...

 

ummmmmm there can be lots of knocking noises, you got the car running!? could the noise be water pump pulley loose? i had that problem.

 

Was this motor just rebuilt?

 

Whats the status on the motor? We on here from under the impression that you were still gathering parts for the setup your wanting to run in one of your threads here in Mitsu Tech. Its sometimes hard to tell what the noise maybe and where its coming from just by description. Post a vid if you can.

 

No old stock motor still...Just cranked it up again today...

Maybe this could be the water pump pulley being loose..i had problems with this not so long ago...

It isn't RPM consistant,or anything...So it has me thinking..

Reguardless,It's getting built.....But it'd be nice to know that not much machining will be needed.

 

Kinda sounds like acorns tapping on something?....The best way to describe it.

 

might be your balance shafts going out

 

Could be rod knock... My rod knock I had wasnt very consistent either and it was right around 2000 rpm..

 

not lifter tick is it? read something similar to that.. any input?
