Its the a first sign of the transmission going. I had this happen in my 1st car (Mitsubishi Mirage). I lost reverse, had to push my car out of parking lots lol. Then eventually I lost "D" then car got stuck in "2" and would only gone 35mph. Your going to need your transmission rebuilt unless you can find a used turbo one in good condition.
how much would it cost to get it rebuilt? or am i better off hunting down a used one? or am i better off trying to switch it all over to stick? anyone got any ideas? where can i go to have it rebuilt maybe? good price, and good work, i do live in the tampa area of course. thx for the help
I heard switching it over to manual is sorta a pain. Atleast from what I read. Your better off auto with some shifter kit. Usually the cost for rebuild is far more expensive then just buying a used tranny. I learned the hardway, the first tranny on the Mirage that went I had it rebuilt in 2002, and it cost me $1,365. After that one went I bought a used one from a salvage yard, only cost me $265 w/6 month warranty. Same amount of warranty I had on the rebuilt one and the used one lasted me longer.
I don't know how hard it is to find a used turbo auto tranny but good luck searching for one. In the meantime I would also call a few places to see how much it would be for them to rebuild it.
