yes u can take away some timing and run more boost, but theres no sense in doing that because ur going to make the same power at 16psi with stock timing then at 20psi with less timing.

must be my car, I'm using a 95 ecu I don't hit fuel cut till 21psi when I was on the 450's. Hell I did the same thing on the 20g.... guess my car is just special

Quban, I don't know but my car was faster at 20psi than 16... Hmm I also have all 1g stuff, cam angle sensor, 7.8:1 6-bolt bottom end and head. Maybe thats the difference, because I have always done this on my 1g's and every 2g I have ever owned had a 6-bolt full conversion in it!

Hey Tom care to chime in?

i am going by what i saw in my car, at 19-20 psi it felt the same as 24psi with less timing.

u will gain more hp in runing less boost and more timing then runing more boost with less timing.

If you run more boost and fuel!!! my car runs rich because my pump is wired through relay straight. When you turn the key its steady cycling,My car has always pulled strong to 20psi no issues. To bad I have changed so much in the past 2 weeks, or I'd show you.

I ran a big T28 with a walbro 255HP, charged-air AFPR, and stock 450s to 23psi with no knock and no fuel cut on pump gas. Timing was peaking at 21 degrees. I was using a stock 98GSX ecu and only had an SAFC1 for tuning. It worked perfectly fine for me. I was actually trying to set a 450cc record on the big T28 way back in the day before I gave up. My best time on the stock injectors was 12.8 @ 107.

I made the most power by running as much boost as possible with a lean mixture and low timing.

You want the right amount of timing for the amount of boost and a/f you are running.
Not just alot of timing.
If you know how to tune you will always make more hp at 20psi over 16 as long as you have the a/f right.
You cant think of timing like you do boost.
You cant just throw a bunch of timing at it like you do boost.
It needs to work in sync with your torque curve.
Timing is the hardest part to get right in your tune.
