WOAH everyone this is a very touchy subject in the DSM world. Approach subject with caution.

Depends on your setup. I had a stock 420a car that was trapping about a 103 with a $1200 turbo kit. The major reason people run into trouble is due to poor tuning methods.

Your better off swapping in a 4g64 from a 2000-2005 eclipse or 1999-2003 galant. That engine has been proven time and time again to be able to make 300whp and handle boost nearly as well as the Evo 4g63t in stock form. You can get one of these engines from a junkyard for around $400-$450.

I was referring to swapping in a 4g63t in a n/a dsm.
But yes, if i was you i would turbo the 420a or sell the car for a turbo model.

I thought the 3g engines had pretty weak internals? Can't the 4 cyl. hold boost better than the V6, heard that somewhere.

after doing a lot playing around @ the junk yard a 2.4 turbo dodge motor will bolt into the 420a with just a few mods...mainly custome exhaust and intake pipes cause the manifolds are on different sides, so SRT-4 neon or a 2.4 turbo from a PT will also work. only thing im still working on is seeing how the tranny would work out. or you can do what i did, i got a 2.4 from a Stratus which is the same block just different internals (as far as i know) and just buy upgraded srt4 internals, (why spend $1000 on an srt4 motor your gonna rip apart and rebuild stronger) when the stratus 2.4 is dirt cheep got mine for $100. whenever i drop my tranny to do a clutch im gonna see if it bolts up to the 2.4 if it dose then im all set, if not then im gonna have to find a way to use the srt4 tranny or stratus tranny, which would require a custome cross member, cv's, maybe cables, and even mounts for it. but all this to me seems easyer than swapping a 4g63 into a 420a body.

you could build your 420a and boost it like Amit did. and his is probably one of my favorite 2g's. but your never gonna get your money back out of it. mine i will still have all my stock parts and when i decide to sell i pull the 2.4 out sell it to a neon buy put the 420a back in and sell it as a stock 2g.
