need help diagnosing a problem
Hi folks its been awhile since Ive been on here but i come seeking your DSM wisdom lol. OK when i was out of town my dad needed to barrow my car so i let him well i guess he decided my belts needed changing so he attempted to do so. The problem is now my car start squeals for 5-10sec and then dies. Ive checked the belts and re tightened them to spec my harmonic balancer is in good shape and the pulleys look aligned to me unless my eyes are going bad. also i made sure link didn't reset and checked the alt fuse and plug. what am i missing?
Thanks in advance
Jay

possibly the crank shaft wasnt aligned correctly? I'm not exactly sure about 1/4 turns and 180* turns of the crankshaft or whatever, but i know that pistons at cylinders 4 and 1 have to be TDC when you do the timing belt. You said you aligned the marks, but that mark could be on the right spot, but the journals whatever were not in the right locations. you understand what i mean?
cylinder 1 is the cylinder right next to the cam gears and cylinder 4 is on the opposite end. (either that or vice versa, anyways the far left and far right cylinders) just remove spark plugs and then make sure the piston is at TDC in those cylinders, then align all the other marks. maybe that could be the problem.
keep us updated!

im sorry i should have made this a little clearer. he didn't touch the timing belt he changed the ps and alt belt . sorry about the confusion. i did check timing thinking that he may have tried to undo the harmonic balancer and made the timing belt skip a tooth luckily that isnt the case.
