I was also interested in getting Fp cams, better idle characteristics and more top end than any of the hks combo. On a evo3 car im assuming that straight Fp1s would provide the best power band, im not looking to sacrific any low/mid range for only top end considering i want a autox type setup . I was originially thinking getting straight fp2s and getting it over with in case i upgrade turbos, but my friends evo3 fp2 gsx was fast and all but the cams took that hard hit out of it that I like. I dont want to smoothen my power band out to were the torque is too smooth, i like some violence in the pull....But i also was considering what the fp1/ fp2 combo would be like... Tom any suggestions what fp cam selection youd go for on a bolt on evo3 car.
And for the OP, if you have a gt30r you need to go straight fp2s
theres no reason to even consider the 1s at your point. Get the fp2s , hell get the fp2x's for the increased ramp rate if you have extra money for their required valvesprings adn then just work on getting that rev limiter taken off thru dsmlink/dsmchip etc.
Thanks guys you cleared up a lot for me ... I just puchased dsmlink v2 and a pair of fp2's so things should be running pretty swell soon .

I second the FP2s. great cames. idle better than HKS and make more power.

I really think the 1x`s can be run on a factory head.
I would use them with out much worry.

When I was spinning 9k rpms on my stock head it was with HKS 272`s.
Interesting you say this, ive heard someone else say this to as long as i didnt go past 8k according to their theory. I can drop my 8200 rev limit down to 8000 since i dont need to rev past 8k anyways, do you think these fp1x cams would be safe spinning up at 8k on stock head for any negligable amount of time. Its real easy to bounce of the rev limiter around corners and on the slaloms in autox.

just wanna jump in and ask a quick question...my friend told me he had crower's 414's in his car. I havent done any in depth research on them but are they descent cams? I'm pretty sure they're a little more aggressive than the hks 272's and they make good power throughout the entire rpm range.

414`s are another cam that will need to be degreed.
They are hit and miss. They do make good power though.
