Thought id make a thread...(E85)
I really dont contribute to threads on this site much,
but heres something i wanted to add that may or may not have been discussed much here.
E85....We need to get some of this stuff out here local in the hillsborough/pinnelas/Bradenton/orlando (etc.) areas. Perhaps theres a few stations with them somewhere hidden but i havent seen e85 local yet? I know the midwest, and west coast guys have steady access to it as the demand is higher due to emmissions testing and farm land.
For those who dont know much about it; the scoop-
National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition
E85/16g/Emanage/1000cc injectors running awesome - DSM Forums
Anywho to sum it up, think meth injection- we would basically be able to run our race gas tunes daily without knock issues and timing retard, and this stuff would be at least a dollar cheaper than 93 oct pump gas. The catch is it burns 30 something % faster than regular fuels so you require a larger injector for the same amount of air flow as before. This will be a problem for the safc guys who are limited to inj compensation size due to piggy back tuning.
Dsmlink/ dsm chip guys might as well go 1000cc with this stuff... Or so Ive read...
Any addition info/ feedback or experience with E85 welcomed.

Ive heard difference cases were dsmlink doesnt run the 1600ccs properly and causes the car to idle/ run at part throttle sloppy and horrible gas milage. After a certain size im sure the aem ems would be better, but thats cool if theres people doing it.
Do you know the E85 octane rating, ive heard 105.
And im trying to figure out when this stuff is going to be local like at Hess, shell, Racetrak, whatever ya know.

no idea when its gonna become available at gas stations, but i think its already being sold out west.
also e85 is very limited unless you have aem. 4 1600cc injectors just cant give enough flow past ~550whp. in order to really push out some power, you need aem and a second set of injectors. on the dsmlink forums, someone is running dual fuel pumps with 1600cc injectors on e85 and they dont have enough fuel to go past 550whp.

nah, theres people who have been able to tune it to run good. as far as the gas mileage, yea it will be about 20-25 percent worse, but its also cheaper. either way you get race gas for less than pump gas prices. in my book thats worth it for a little worse gas mileage.

Yea it is worth it, for most of us gas milage isnt a priority anyways especially when trying to run 20+ psi daily lol. E85 is already in some areas of Southern California and some in the midwest, ive seen it before in Cali.
Theres guys running that stuff daily tuned to 30deg timing adv and 25+ psi on 16gs and 50trims... What a fun way to drive to work every day, sure would get there a whole lot quicker lol...j/p
