Default A/C and Coolant temp sensor same part? 1Ga

I wanted to swap out my old ECU temp sensor (on thermostat housing on left), all I have is an extra a/c temp sensor (taps into water neck). They look identical, and when searching for the parts on the napa site, they dont list an A/C temp sensor, just 2 different "coolant temp sensor". I understand the A/C sensor shuts off the air when if the car overheats, so Im guessing this sensor will read a lot higher and could be a NO NO? Im lost, electronically retarded, stupid, ignorant...you get the picture.

It not a a/c sensor... Both are coolant. One of them that has one wire running to it is for the gauge in the car. The other with 2 wires (at least on a 2g) is also a coolant temp. This one translates the coolant temp to the ecu. Its important to have that one on due to the ecu helping the car out with warmup enrichments etc.

On my 1G there is the single wire sensor (gauge) and right next to it on the left is the coolant sensor with 2 wires. These are both on the thermostat housing. THEN, on the coolant water neck there is another sensor with 2 wires that looks just like the coolant sensor, but it is to turn the A/C off if the car starts overheating. That is the one I was wondering was interchangeable. So I dont know about your 2G, but I have 3 sensors on mine.

Nobody knows? Am I the only 1G with 3 sensors on the T-stat housing, like some kind of freak?
