Default Bad News

this is todd's90 on slowy's comp because I'm stranded here.
It's strange how the world works, I spend my little spare cash I have to get a tattoo and on the way home my car is over heating. get to slowy's house and discover the engine is covered in water and oil. Headgasket!!!
My question is where locally can I pick up a set of ARP headstuds?? I got to have them in the car before I got to work Monday night at 8pm. I'll get a head gasket from Mitsubishi but I don't want to have the head off and not use head ARP head studs.
Also is there a way to get the head off without taking the timing belt off?? kinda like the old trick of clamping the belt to the cam gears and then use zip ties to hold the camgears/belt to the hood to keep tension on it?

The belt will have to come off at least on the cam gears.I guess you figured out the power issue.

Dunno about local shops, But I would suggest roadraceengineering.com; slowboyracing.com; or cimotorsports.net (The latter being a VERY distant third.)

I've only had 1 4g, and never changed the Timing belt on it... SO I can't offer any help there.

I have done the timing belt twice, hated it both times because it is impossible to get the tension right without the special tool. I also need to get it from a local shop so I can have the car get me to work, I'd hate to have to settle for advanced auto studs.

Yea I figured out the power issue alright, car felt amazing at 16psi ( 19 spike settling to 16) but I guess the engine is not used to making power.. I just hope the head did not get damaged in anyway, I can deal with just a gasket for now.

Just a reminder when you do the head gasket to use a felpro if you are doing head studs.Dont use a mitsu metal headgasket and arp studs you need to do either not both together.

Thanks I was planing on running a felpro / ARP combo. As Jerry said, the head gasket is a fuse
Looks like we got our day planed, this should be interesting.
