Whatever turbo comes with the hahn stage 2 kit on 8 psi puts the 420a at 250 crank. and it should run a 13.5 on street tires from what i remember reading.

EDIT: but the kit is around 5k or something and you could definitely get the same power piecing your own kit together

It's pretty well true. A 420a sporting a stage 2 Hahn kit will out accelerate a stock GS-T any day of the week. Hahn uses a custom version of the MHI 16g. You'll spend around $4000 for a stage 2 kit shipped to your door.

OP: 10 seconds? You're looking at breaking Hahn's record at that point. Not to mention the fact that you'll be into it for at least $6000 at that point. I'm not trying to dissuade you from boosting your car. (I used to own a turbo 420A) As far as reliabilty goes, pay no attention to the previous comments, a fully built 420A (tuned properly, of course) will be very reliable. It's your money, do your research before jumping headlong in to this.

im not trying to offend the OP or anything. i just think its a huge waste of money to just buy a turbo kit for 4/4500 or whatever to make 250 to the CRANK. your still fwd no matter what. im sure once you put the turbo on you will want to run more boost, then that means time for a built and expensive motor.

i just think it makes more sense to find a awd 2g for like 2500 or so and throw on a 16g and the fuel stuff and make 300-320 to the wheels and be done with it. thats just me though i guess

True, but, there aren't many clean, low-mileage 2G AWD's out there for $2500. $1k can net him a decent used kit. If you pair that with another $1k to build the bottom end, $500 for a MegaSquirt, $800 on a Quaife, and $300 for a decent clutch, it would only be $3500 for a 20PSI capable car that retains 100% of stock daily drivability. This is assuming he could do it himself... Which apparently is out of the question. But, you're right, as It's quite a lot more work when everything isn't already done for you.

As a side note, 4psi feels nice on a 420a. Now I just need to track down a boost/vac leak (getting ~5 in/Hg at idle) and hopefully I can hit 8psi. Crossing my fingers and hoping the wastegate isn't junk.
