Default alternator help

ok, so when my alternator is wired in, it's overcharging the system, which could explain why it fried my computer... however. we messured the volts in accessory, and the alternator output. the alternator is charging the battery up to about 19volts and the rest of the system to about 17.5-18.

we're gonna try swapping out the resister on the alternator(or whatever its called lol) but does anyone have input on the issue??

Yep thats pretty high lol....

make sure your voltage regulator is hooked up... I think it just references the alternator + terminal but not sure.

Or go with the chrysler model regulator http://www.electromotive.us/pdf_files/neon99.pdf
scroll down to page 15 and it explains.

OH thats right lol, the ECU controls the voltage regulator. haha. easy fix at least!

does megasquirt not have a provision for voltage regulator signal?

Yeah looks like you need an "add on" voltage regulator. Otherwise you could retain the stock ecu for that function but you're kinda outta luck on that front. Maybe you could find an ecu from a junkyard neon or something? I have a feeling that a separate voltage reg from another mitsubishi like John said is probably the cheapest, most straight forward solution though.

Oh and I dont know about anyone else, but I would not run that car at all with it charging upwards of 18v. Especially with your new shit all wired in.

were not dude lol. we're ground the alternator so it kicks on and then about 2 minutes later we're take it off. just so it charges the battery enough to run the ms lol

a safer way would be to just hook jumper cables to another vehicle.
