ECMLink help
ECMLink help
Hi everyone,
I'm a newbe to this forum, but not a newbe when it comes to tuning.
I'm actually looking for some help with ECMLink if anyone around the area (Lutz / Odessa) has intimate knowledge of it and can help out.
I cannot for the life of me get my car to idle, and I'm about out of ideas. Car will run if i keep my foot on the gas... but as soon as I let off the gas, it dies.
I double checked the injector settings, the plugs have been swapped (95 ECU in a '99), the correct MAF is selected (3" GM).
As soon as i let my foot off the gas, the car almost immediately dies.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Ron

Post up a log. and a complete mod list of the car and I'll see what i can do. Are you on the link forum? I would also post it up on there, they are more then helpful when it comes to someone learning link.
sign up on the dsmlink forums and ask for help... they will actually tune the car for u if u post logs..
if u want ur car tuned, steve aka firebird on here knows his shit when it comes to dsmlink.

Yes, I'm already on the ecmlink forum's... i've read a TON of information on there.. none of it has really helped in my situation.
Anyways, my mods are as follows, and I will post a log shortly, when i get a chance:
- 2.4L block (4G64) (wesico pistons, scat rods)
- 9:5:1 compression
- EVOIII B16G turbo
- 3" GM MAF - plugged in directly using ecmlink GM MAF cable, and located right in front of the TB.
- 450cc injectors
- Stock FPR (spyder - slightly higher FP than 4g63t)
- 4G63t head w/ BC 272 cams
- 190lph Walbro fuel pump.
I think this covers all the mods that may apply to getting this thing idling.

Have you calibrated the gm maf? Also have you tried after the car is warmed up or when it is cold? You could have a non working ISC. Have you done the TPS adjust?
If you post up a log it would make me helping you much easier haha

Well the injector scaling shouldnt change if you're using stock injectors. The fuel pressure difference should matter. If there even is one. I have that regulator on my car too. Reads like 44-45psi.
Sounds dumb but did you turn up the idle with the BISS?
I would try to get it running first with the stock mafs before adding the GM as well. In fact just sell it and get an IAT sensor and a wideband o2. Speed density ftw.

You need to adjust the maf compensation at idle 50Hz slider. Log the STFT and MAF. The ECU will tell you if you need to add or subtract airflow. If you can't figure it out let me know and I will come out and tune the car. Pm me if you are interested.

First off, I appriciate all your responses so far, especially with my limited information provided so far (yet to get the logs, but will be getting them first thing in the morning). lol
Honestly, I don't know exactly how to calibrate the GM MAF. BUT I have calibrated the TPS.
Since i can't get the car running / idling, i can't really get the car warmed up, which presents a little bit of an issue with making sure my front 02 is cycling. I do however a wideband (ZT-2).
Just to clarify, for the past bunch of months, up until about 2 days ago, I have been running a MAFT, and SAFC on the exact same setup (minus the ecmlink obviously), and it was running perfectly. So i know all the sensors are good, and everything is mechanically sound.
Also, I'm running v3 ecmlink.

All I can say is just make sure everything is zero'd out. Make sure your BISS is in the right position. Something is pretty weird for it not to even idle.
Until you get your log in the morning that's really all I can suggest. Also what is your target idle set at? And do you have a working idle switch?
Also I'm sure you have but just in case. Check out the demo's, They are a tremendous help.
