One thing I would suggest which is the best choice for the budget you have setup for this build. First off to reach your goal your going to need to be able to tune both your fuel, and timing curves. Since your ECU is not reflashable you will need an ECU that is. This is the very first step, either you have a bunch O' money and buy AEM, or you can find an EVO 8 ECU and flash it with a tephra ROM. This willl give you all the benefits of an AEM setup at less than 350$. You can pick up an ECU for about 150$, EVOscan is 20$ and the Openport 1.3U cable is 147$. ECUflash will be the software you will tune and flash with. This is opensource and free to download and install. Bang for the buck this is by far the best solution. I have my 1G running the EVO ecu, My car runs much much smoother than it ever has with my stock ECU. I have an Automatic also. Your car has an TCU which is just like your ECU only it controls the Transmission. You can buy an eprom TCU and tune it to shift at the rshared_pm you want it to shift at. You can also do easy mods to give full line pressure all time instead ofhavin to build that pressure. Also an EPROM TCU will allow you to add paddle shifters. You will have to change out the selonids tho, but you can then shift much faster than any human can in a manual car. Who ever tells you that an automatic sucks, just tell them to wait till your done and then you can Launch faster and pull harder than they will and you will do it each and ever time, you will be very consistant. This method is in my opninon the best for your budget. PM me if you need anything. I have already done this to my car and can help/explain what you need to do and what you will need to buy. Best of luck..
