I would recommend a fuel pump and 880+ injectors. A stout fuel system is important to any level of tune.

countless dyno sessions end early due to lack of fuel.

Made the decision. Had my wife take the Evo to S & R today while I was at work, had a 255 Walbro installed and got a MUCH needed dyno tune. It also seems my timing was pretty good. Turns out a tuner by the name of Doug from, I believe it was, Topspeed Inc. out of Alpharetta, GA was in the shop to tune a number of customer cars.

Once I get my readouts i'll scan my dyno results and post them. From what she was telling me the baseline started around 224 hp. Low right? Like I said, a MUCH needed dyno tune. Final numbers were around 302 hp and 275 tq. HOLY SHIT! That is quite a jump!

Can someone tell me what that might put it at to the crank? and does anyone think about that statistic anymore?

Now I'm chomping at the bit to drive my car. I think my wife has kidnapped it. (Damn it woman, where the hell are you?!)

Actually, I don't have that part switched out yet. It's still the stock one, I think.

You can about 6% to those numbers to get dynojet numbers. Dynojet numbers are very close to crank HP numbers. while you had whopping improvement from tune, that turbo is capable of so much more. 400whp dynojet on 93 is pretty easy to achieve with the correct set mods.

I can understand higher numbers if I were to add further mods (ie - cams, cam gears, larger injectors, etc.) with this being my daily i'm trying to maintain some modesty in regards to gas mileage. Trying to avoid having to drive my wife's car to work and leave her the free reign of a high horsepower errand runner, if you know what I mean.

Actually making the engine breath better increases gas mileage. provided you can stay out of boost all the time. I am not knocking your results and plans. Just stating you are just a few mods away from getting that same big jump in power all over again without having to change the turbo. nothing beats reliable power levels. cant really over state that point.

Why doesn't this car have the stock turbo setup with these goals?

Because more often then not, people will simply upgrade the turbo instead of focusing on what really makes or breaks a car, the supporting mod combination.

An attempt at the short story:

I bought the car used, found that the previous owner attempted to replace his aftermarket parts with the original parts before he traded it in. I started looking for my own aftermarket parts. When I had Lancerman install the Injen intake he found the turbo impeller had damaged, but functioning impeller blades (fins). If he still has the impeller he could post a picture of it. Anyway, a number of people suggested switching to a 9 turbo, but eventually Lancerman told me he was selling an FPgreen, so I bought it from him.

I'm not looking for the results that Ryu has attained, or is still looking for. But from the sound of it I still have the opportunity for more horsepower. Sounds good to me.

On a side note - I went out to the Evo/DSM meet yesterday and managed to win an O2 housing from the raffle.
