its a 6 bolt with a cyclone intake, go on vfaq and see if the exhaust manifold is an evo 3, run the numbers on the turbo and see if its a true evo 3. my buddy just put a "supposedly" evo 3 motor in his talon and it has an automatic 13g turbo on it lmao. other than that, i think the compression ratio is different than any other 6 bolt so i think you would have to pull the pistons to really be able to tell.

Yeah he was only told that it was a swap also. He bought the car just the way he sold it to you. I wouldn't worry too much about if it's really an evo 3 motor or not, as long as it has the manifolds and a real evo 3 16g.....it may as well be one.

All true EVO Engines are 7-bolt.

^ good to know. wasn't too sure about that. my buddy's supposedly evo 3 had a 6 bolt crank when he put the clutch in haha. do the galant vr4's come with a 6 bolt maybe? its definetly a jdm motor with a cyclone intake....but an automatic 13g turbo....doesnt make sense to me.

The engine is probably from an early Galant VR4
