Default upgrade turbo on sr20

I'm new to nissans and dont know much about sr20s.

I hear they are pretty stout motors. Stock turbo is a t28 correct? What turbo would i be able to upgrade to, that will allow 400+hp. And what will it take on motor work to support it.

another thing whats the biggest turbo to go to, with out having to touch anything in the motor.

Stock on an S13 is a T25, S14/15 is T28

400 HP has been done on a GT2871R, but you probably wont be able to bet on that number with it if thats what you are dead set on, 2876R can be hung under the stock manifold if you are trying to keep with a bottom mount, id go for the one with the T25 housing setup for the external 44mm gate, but im not sure if it will fit in an S-chassis, havent seen any installs yet, though I havent really looked.

Other than just hanging a bigger turbo on the stock manifold, there are countless top mount manifolds available, which usually coincide with a T3/T4, of which there are too many to count.

Upgrades realistically to support, a set of quality cams, valvesprings, N62 maf, injectors, a tune from martin, and probably a greddy intake plenum though not needed.

Oh theres also the option of the mitsu 20g style turbo by "kinugawa" ? on ebay, they have been around for a bit and im quite sure its the same one that forced performance sells, its a drop in style just like the S14 T28 for the most part, and will look stock.

Yes, bolt on a full race or other quality manifold, and something like a twin scroll GT30R, GT35R, or borg warner S200, checkup on tune with martin, call it a day.
