Before and After...a Refresh and Update Project on a '93 s13 Hatch
Compared to the way the blue hatch used to feel its errie how similar it is. Because of the fewer miles on the chassis it seems a little tighter. Its somewhat noiser because I had to remove a fair amount of sound deadening during the install of the wiring harness and dash stuff, but not cazy noisy.
As a side note...the blue hatch is going to be picked up soon...junk man is grabbing it, no one wanted it as a drift missile...
I'd like to do a 240sx 6spd...but i hear the s15's 6spd is "weak"(? a realitive term i'm sure) and over priced. I spotted a vq trans with a KA bell housing welded to it in the KAT.org Weld and Fab section today. That would be killer. I know the camaro's 6spd 6th gear is an underdrive type, something like a 0.50:1.
I'm having dinner with Jeff the CNC guy tomorrow. I'm going to ask that he just cut the plate for me. I think he wants to engineer the whole thing, but all i need is the plate cut and who ever I tap to do the welding of the intake will have to deal with that headache.
I've seen KA intakes recently on Ebay that could be modified for my application...designing the "hot pipe" for the supercharger to the intercooler should prove interesting.

thats actually really awesome that it is really similar. Maybe you swapped enough stuff over you managed to "catch its soul" in the process.
thats because they want their drift missles to look awesome and be magazine cover cool, so they can wreck them into the wall. That is one thing I never understood about drifters. Why they spend so much money on the way the car looks, just to destroy it. I would have a more enjoyable time using 100 dollar bills to light my cigars rather than buy aero and a front end conversion for a drift car.
That VQ swap is a pretty cool thing. I remember a few years ago, someone on here did it. Don't know how much stronger that tranny is compared to some other options, but i do remember that it has a bit more aggressive gearing than say a VG tranny. If I remember right, the VQ tranny ends up at the same place as the VG but it does it with shorter gearing, and therefore, more quickly.
I think I'm gonna start comparing gear ratios. If/When I build another 240 (its been put off for now) I want to build a awesome street machine, but still have the comforts and gas mileage of a daily driver and I think that camaro 6 speed might just be the ticket. I figure it gets those guys mid 20-25 mpg on the highway, It ought to be really awesome for a decently built KA. If it is really awesome, then I might just copy your supercharger set up, once I get to that point. Gonna throw some money at my truck and my Z for now. Gonna save up for a 240 that way it can be a toy, not a necessity.
Hopefully he can get that thing cut soon. I'm getting anxious to see this thing start to come together. lol.
Have you thought about just taking the stock manifold, cutting it really short, and welding on the log?
Wouldn't exactly be pretty, but it could give you something to work with as far as getting it together. could always step up to something nicer down the road. Never know, you might find that you have to do things differently once you start getting it bolted together, and chopping up the stock manifold could save you some cash.
as for the hot pipe, I can't remember exactly the route that it needed to go in, but you might look at stock 300zx piping. There are some sections that have the bends and everything that you might need and they are supposed to be good for something crazy like 500 whp.

I've set up time to meet Jeff @ his house. He's about as excited as I am to get this thing off the ground. And probably make room in his garage...lol. Since he has the SC and a spare KA intake I gave him too we will be able the map out a plan to get it cut on his CNC machine. Jeff knows his stuff...he's suggesting a different grade of aluminum that disippates heat better and is less prowned to warping. Good Stuff!!

I read this from beginning to present, what a build my friend, you've overcome some hella crazy obstacles too, I canNOT wait to see a supercharger on this thing, plain jane is coming along great, keep it up!

Thanks so much P3rf3ctshift. I always appreciate the kudos from those that post in here. You hit it on the head too when you said this has been a hell of a process.
The SC has been in the works for such a long time I'm super anxious myself. If I had not wrecked the blue car I might already be showing the finished product. I'll be focusing on that instead of making plain jane look pretty for the time being. I just replaced janes nasty rear bumper with the one from the blue hatch over the weekend. There are just a few more Items to swap over before the parts transfer is complete. Its very sad seeing the remains of the blue hatch in the yard...but i'm in agreement with Empire when he said some of the soul of the blue hatch has tranferred over.
more pix to come soon...

you know what you need rhart... SRT8 brakes!
SRT8 brembo brakes + 370Z rotors = pavement tearing stopping power
link to someone who has done it - 300zxClub.com (Nissan 300ZX Forums)
Definitely on my to do list for both my 300zx project and future 240 project.
and some info on doing a brembo rear from an STI - http://zilvia.net/f/tech-talk/93748-...se-do-yet.html
It is for a 300zx, but given how relatively simple it is to swap the 300zx stuff to a 240, it wouldn't take much to put these brakes on a 240.
Crazy stopping power right there.

Impressive, but my r32 brakes are more than enough to slow my girl down. Though they are "only" 11.65" (296mm x 32mm) in diameter...they still manage to lock up on occasion. Plus i can use z32 brake pads. I've been rocking them for about a year and they are sweet. Though the rotors are a bit pricey...they are beefy as hell.
I would imagine you'd need some sort of proportioning valve to sort that out lock up if you did run those bad boys.

Bilstein rear shocks are on my way to my place...out for delivery as I type. Specifically they are Evo VIII's that will accomidate the Z32 knuckles also looking into grabbing z32 rotors for a weekend install project, fitting my rear Z-brakes...finally.
