Sorry I haven't updated in a longtime, no internet at the new house...

I got the car out of the paint shop about 2wks ago and it looks amazing! However sadly the VIS carbon hood flew up destroying itself, my windshield and my roof. I'm waiting to hear back from the body shop to see if it can be salvaged or not.

Once I hear back from the body shop I'll decide what I'm going to do. I have a good amount of money set aside for a LS1 swap. Just have to decide if I need to buy a new shell or not.

any kind of warranty on that hood? have you called and told them that the catch failed, throwing your hood back into your roof?

You have to use hood pins on a carbon fiber hood. Its not the manufacturers fault.

The funny thing is... I was actually on my way to have aerocatch clips professionally installed. I have a very detailed picture of where the latch failed and tore through the fiberglass/carbon fiber. Anyways, I sent VIS an email this morning with a long description of what happened and a good amount of pictures. I highly doubt they'll do anything about it, but I felt like I should show them. I'm aware that its my fault, just gotta deal with the end result now...

I have another apt at the body shop Monday to talk to their "metal guy" and see what they can do. So far my options are:

1) Let them bang it out and see what happens. If it's still bad then there's always the option of an aftermarket sunroof or clever bike/roof rack.
2) Cut/weld a new roof skin/top half of the car. Not too likely...
3) Find a clean shell and transfer everything over.
4) Cut the top off and call it a vert.

I was also thinking of contacting my insurance company and saying debris hit my vehicle on the highway... busting out my grill, headlight housing, hood latch, sending my hood flying into my windshield, damaging my hinges and destroying my roof....
