Default Fully Built SR20 (S14) in a 350Z using drive-by-wire and dual ECU's

We just started a really cool build. We had a customer bring us an 03 350Z and he wants a truly unique set up. It is getting an S14 SR20DET. We are fully building the engine, making a top mount manifold (custom) with a Garrett 3076 (GT30R) turbo and 850cc inj's. our goal is to do something no one has done before though. We are keeping the OEM drive by wire set-up from the 350Z and running a dual ECU set-up. This will allow us to manage the engine as well as to maintain the VTC, traction control, cruise control, and all factory gauges. The S14 ECU does not run can-bus but the 350Z's does. This is a cool build. I hope you like it.
Here are the pics as it is coming together. I will add pics as the build continues.

and here are all the parts we are using to build the engine:

850cc injectors

New OEM S14 oil pump

New .20 over CP pistons

New HKS 264 step 2 camshafts

New Supertech performance spring and retainers

New Cosworth 87mm x 1.1mm metal head gasket

New SCAT forged rods

New ARP head studshttp://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/301868_10150373688798296_296402898295_9772422_5538 780_n.jpg[/img]
New ARP main studs

The engine has been sent out, hot tanked, bored .20 over, and honed. The crank was polished and balanced.

The head has been completely reconditioned and the new springs, retainers, and cams are installed.

And of course, this is the heart of it all... the Garrett GT30R (3076) fully ball bearing beast. This power plant should make an easy 500whp on pump gas.
I know that some people will not like this build because we have taken out a perfectly good running VQ35 that we could have boosted and made 400whp or built and gotten more than 600whp. All true, but we have done 100 350Z's just like that. This is something unique that you won't see 50 of at a car show. And the way we are doing it is truly inspiring. I don't think anyone has maintained all the OEM functionality of the gauges and drive-by-wire.
I hope you like it.

These are brand new JECS injectors. If you have ever spent a lot of time around a Nissan vehicle you will be familiar with JECS. It is written on almost every electrical box in a Nissan car. They are the OEM manufacturer to Nissan and make their injectors.
The US supplier is Five-O Motorsports and they sponsor our S14 drift car. We have had 100% success with them and found them to be as good as Sard, HKS, or Nismo yet a bit cheaper. We have installed at least 250 of these so far with "0" failures. We have also had them bench tested for accuracy.

doug, people are brand whores here, just got to deal with it... i've never had a single issue with DW's, but everyones got a friend who's friends friends car blew up and killed everyone within a 6 miles radius by running DW's...

oh, and +1 on using a cosworth head gasket, pretty much the only way to go IMO.

keep us updated man!

BTW: you by chance got any SR into S30 mount kits fabbed up and laying around? i can order the mckinny kit, but i prefer to support local businesses.

Hey Marshall, you are one funny dude! That was hilarious...

I do not have the S30 to SR mounts. We fab'd all the ones we have ever installed ourselves. Mac's products are good. He is a great guy to deal with and we support one another. We use his VQ35 mounts and he sells our harness and ECU tuning services.
Let me know if you need anything, we are here to help.

Not a brand whore at all, I've personally used shitworks injectors and had two of them go out within a month of owning them. Had all four replaced under warranty, and sold them. The guy who bought them off me had one go out on him as well. I paid the extra $100 for nismo 555's, used them in two different cars over the course of three years and ended up selling them to sean1 who as far as I know is still running them. That's my experience. 500whp is a little much to gamble with shoddy injectors in my opinion. If you guys cover engine failure as a result of this part then more power too you, but as a business man the $100-150 bucks spent on quality proven parts is extra insurance even though I'm certain you could get name brand stuff for much less than retail.
