Don't reuse that timing kit. Long ago, I tried using that same kit and it failed. Idler gear tooth broke and jumped time.

Also, if you look at a OEM tensioner and look at the ones provided you will see the casting sucks. On the aftermarket tensioners the holes did not line up with the oem holes thus blocking oil from the block. Also it was not allowing oil behind the tensioner piston to do its job. Total crap.

This block is the one that came w/ the car. I have my original ka-t set to the side in the shop. As far as the timing chain goes, I thought that it didn't look like an OEM Nissan one. Makes sense now as of to why no oil was getting to the crank causing the bearings to spin out of whack. I'll wind up rebuilding this at a later date. Gonna try to shoot for some big numbers.

I've been doing a lot of sanding for the past 2 days...and beating a lot of minor dents out of the fenders. Because of the pinch welds and rocker panels being fucked up, I now have yet another problem. Notice the body lines. A side view. W/ the rocker panel and pinch welds being higher than what they are supposed to be, when I bolt the bottom of the fender up, the fender is raised about a 1/4 of an inch causing the body lines to be out of form. And it's bowing the fender out as well. CLEANs13HATCH helped me out some today. We threw the fender, bumper and headlights on. Tried to figure out how I'm going to mount the front mount while utilizing a bumper for once and keeping AC. This ought to be a fun ordeal when the time comes. I'm not too keen on cutting up the bumper skin. I might be wanting to trade my metal Sil hood for a carbon one. We'll see what happens.

Got some body filling in on the bumper and fenders. Each fender had a few dings here and there, nothing major.

Not all of this is body filler. I think that over in J-land, they used a white primer. I wish that I would've gotten a before picture of this. The driver side of the bumper had a semi-major crease in it as if someone parked on a fence pole or something. My friend Rick fixed this because I didn't know exactly how to fix it. This is after it was fixed. The filler is just because there was a dimple that wouldn't come out. We used a heat gun to warm it up, then a small anvil to re-form it and an iced aluminum block to cool it down. The form came out really well, better than I would have expected.

Haven't had much time to do much to the car lately because I've been working on customers cars. I wound of scrounging a few goodies though. Battle version. I acquired these from a forum member, (rbkouki ?)

These I acquired from a Zilvia member. Dude claims that there's roughly 15k on them. They look really clean, but who says that he didn't wax them before shipping 'em?.?.

My doors had a bunch of fecal matter on them from rodents/bugs and dead bugs. Everything was stuck to the sticky shit that adheres the plastic to the door(s). I wound up pressure washing the doors. Should've seen them beforehand.

I got the engine bay degreased.

Such lovely rust.

I haven't seen my baby in a few months, I think she misses me.

I put her in her new home so I could do some cut-outs for the plumbing so I'm not fucking up the paint later on w/ guesstimation.

I love this upper core support removal shit.

Front bumper...check.

Took me a while to figure out how I was going to NOT do a "hack job". It's fits just fine, and it's all there. Oh yea, I sand blasted the engine bays' seem sealer shit. Thanks to Jr_SS's advice. I'll get some pictures of that after I pull the engine back out. I found some slight rust hidden under the sealer in a couple of spots. Thanks again bro. More to come...

No problem man, don't mind helping out any way I can. It's nice to see people actually putting time and money back into restoring these cars vs sliding them in to curbs/walls/people...

Car's coming together nicely, you'll want to rush things here and there, trust me. Don't cut the corners, it'll pay off.

Just welded up some Swiss cheese in the engine bay and trying to figure out how to patch up other holes w/o welding. I don't feel like grinding in the wheel well and in the engine bay. I'm not the best at mig welding. Wish I had an arc welder. Just tried buying my mechanics but he said someone stole his not too long ago. Tore some wires out my engine harness, chassis harness will be next, just need to find a spare first for a back-up. Haven't done much besides piddle paddling around.
