Needed a new clutch and flywheel anyway. I was looking at orc/os giken singles and twins and then the spec popped up for a price I couldn't pass up. I've driven cars with stage 4 and 5 clutches before so I don't think it will be too bad. I should have a new daily here soon as well.

I honestly have no experience with the mini on a S chassis but on DSM's and Supras they tend to be too light and make stop and go driving suck and don't hold much power. Last part only matters if you intend to make a good amount of power.

Update time!

Mirror polish valve cover came out awesome:

I've been collecting parts for the shortblock while its been at the machine shop:

I'm hoping to have it back within 2 weeks.

In the meantime I pushed the shell out of the garage and cleaned the engine bay with SOS pads. I had tried purple power, simple green, and a pressure washer when I was initially doing the SR swap, but none of them could get at the nastier stuff in the bay. It just clicked in my head that the SOS pads would work, and they did an awesome job getting a lot of gunk off the paint.

I also just got a new daily driver, which I'm absolutely in love with. It's an 05, black leather interior, 6 speed, Bose audio, blah blah blah.

My original goal was to have the car running by my birthday in early August, but that's not going to happen. The new timeline is to have the car finished and driving, even if its still being broken in, in time to take it to this years Tampa Nissan meet (if there is one??).

Love the G. I've always like that car over the 350, especially the interior, so much nicer than the bland door panels. The only thing about newer cars, at least for me, is you end up modifying them and ultimately take your focus and funds away from the actual "project" car. Just a heads up, I recommend sending those mains to the machine shop and have them check line bore with them torqued down. They can distort the mains and cause tighter clearances than you want. Glad to see an update, I hope I don't see a part out thread.

I agree. Love the 2 door G35 over the 350z. Especially in black.

My thoughts exactly. I can't stand the Z's interior, and that's what's always been more important to me. I don't have any plans to mod it at the moment, the only things I've done to it so far is wash it, align it, and changed the oil. Going to be doing the transmission and diff gear oil soon as well.

As far as the mains, I had the machine shop check all the clearances on the block. I've decided not to use the ARP main studs I purchased. No plans to part it at all, I want to drive it!!

Well, after entirely too long the engine has returned from the machine shop. Had a couple delays including needing a new oil pump and finding a bent rod at the last minute, in addition to the machine shop dragging ass getting it finished. Work on the motor can resume now.
