DSM Ecu's have actually been used on SR's before so I know its possiable. So maybe to some it might be useful.

thanks for the input, but i wasn't talking about using a dsm ecu on a nissan...what i'm thinking would use the nissan ecu (and the associated stock fuel and ignition curves) but provide a software program where you could access the ecu and change fuel curves and timing curves both globally (for upgraded injectors) and throughout the RPM band (for A/F tuning). this way you have the benefit of the stock curves (i.e. idle and non-WOT operation), but have the benefit of modifying the WOT curves to get optimal performance. the software i'm dreaming up would provide full logging capabilities as well...knock, rpm, injectorduty, speed, O2, LTFT, intake temp, etc ...basically any of the raw values that the ECU takes from sensors in the engine bay.

this is basically what dsmlink does for DSMs. I'm trying to figure out if it would be worthwhile to offer this for nissans/240s.

If you made something like that, I would gladly pay, aslong as its not an obsecne amount. Honestly I would just like some datalogging capablities. But the ablity to self tune in percentages wouldnt be to bad either.

yeah I thought you ment cheap. cheap. I already have the rom tune, and its only a couple of hundred to retune, and I know that it has been done properly. I would love to learn how to tune and everything, but I raither have the saftey of a real tune.

i'm not knocking enthalpy b/c i know he has great tuning skills...but I was thinking that some people don't like to get a new rom tune every time they add a mod or change the boost level. plus logging is nice when you want to troubleshoot an issue you are having w/ the car. Personally, I mess w/ my DSM enough that I'd be pissed if I had to pay $100 - $200 every time I wanted to make a change to my ECU.

imo, $500-$700 is a great deal when compared w/ an AEM setup that is $2000-$3000 before dyno tuning.

you guys don't agree?

question on terminology, "daughterboard" is that just a reference to a circuit board that enables the use of an external rom, like the "blue box" with the hondata units. is the blue box the daughterboard of the honda world.
