damn near bullet proof. here`s the story, went to the southeast Z shootout in GA. while there, due to over zelous boosting, i pinged something. she ran a little rough but she ran. ran from the middle of GA to Tampa, thru JAX. i finally pulled the motor apart today, here`s the list
1 spark plug missing ceramic
1 spark plug missing electrode
1 piston with a silver dollar size chunk of skirt missing
1 piston with a broken ring land
1 piston with a cracked ring land
1 piston with a broken ring
24 mpg, 180*, 85 mph most of the way. i love this motor

hahaha sweet!
Ive gone through my share of spark plugs too, and excessive detonation, blown rings on cyl 6, who knows what else, but this VG motor will not die. I cant see replacing it yet if it only burns a little oil.
I bet you could have got another 15k outta that motor. haha

i think i could have changed the plugs and kept driving it, easy.
but it got replaced for and n/a block, p&p heads and meth injection. very nice...

Yeah, that is soooo cool. I've heard alot of good news about that old VG30E* engine that came in so many Nissan's and Infinity's beginning in the 80's. It's no wonder Nissan used the engine so much, because it works, has plenty of torque, and, most importantly, is reliable. Isn't it true that the stock N/A blocks have the perfect compression for boost and are strong enough to hold 400hp? I might have to get a hold of one of those engines, boost it, and put it into a 240SX.
I see you own a shop in the bay area. Is putting a VG30ET in a S13 your slice of pie?

yeah, we can do that. easy, it`s heavy but i think it`s torque will make up for it.

hey gritt, i have a VG30e in an 89 maxima that broke a timing chain about 5 yrs ago, and has been sitting ever since. NO motivation whatsoever to fix it, i was just gonna get the car towed and make $75..but if you wanna offer something for the engine, im sure the majority of it is salvageable, i think just a few valves may have been bent. Its got just over 100k on the ticker. Sorry for the breakage...but you made it home which is a plus. Good times too man!
