the mechanical timing is dead on. so according to that, it shoud be sparking at the proper times. however, its not.
someone with some understanding of ECU and ICM behavior please explain why the spark time is so random. And what it would take to fix it, ei; new parts or something else?

if the spark is completely random, then the ECU isn't sending a correct signal, or its not getting one from the cam/crank sensor (depending on what engine you have). It's more than likely your dizzy is off.

yes, the spark is completly random.
i've sat there and recorded the readings for over 5 minutes and there was no pattern what so ever.
Its the dual cam. I didn't think they had cam sensors. Do they have crank sensors?
The idiots that were working on the engine at the begining, didn't wire the fan in correctly, so to turn the fan off, you have to disconnect the battery. Is that causing the ecu to mess up?
If it is a sensor issue, I'm assuming that the problem will go away once the sensor is replaced. What if it is the ECU? Is there something else we should be looking for that would cause the ECU to do this, or is it just the the Ecu is messed up? What about the ICM, would that be messing up?
