It was more cost effective to swap in a 2J to achieve 700+ HP than it was to sleeve and build the VQ.
I didn't agree with the swap at first but it does makes sense.
I'll have to agree with you. Slap on a nice single kit, some fuel, and a nice EMS and that car will see 700 all day long on a stock block. If you really want to make power and not break the bank that's how to do it. I'm not super familiar with the VQ but I'm willing to bet you'd at least need a good set of rods and pistons. Add in the labor and machining of the block and you're probably well over $4000. It's late....comment back and I'll put more thought and effort into my responses tomorrow.

Yea probably similar cost to building the VQ, except they can sell the vq to some kid that blew up his Z.

That exhaust is nice looking martin! Good goin guys, is this for a customer or just a shop project?

Exactly, the reason being is that once you get over the idea of a Toyota motor in a non-Toyota car, you realize this is a quick and reliable way to loads of HP that has been proven time and time again. Hot rodders have been using competing manufacturers motors and cars together for years.

I am with Tim on this too. At first I thought it was just a "do it just to say he had a 2JZ" kind of thing, but after seeing the work and understanding how much potential this will have, it's definitely badass.
