I know I don't know a shit ton about the different engines from Chevy, but wouldn't the LS6 that is in a ZO6 be one of the top of the line motors from them???? I always assumed it was?

The reason I ask is that a few of the ZO6 owners that track their cars with SAFE and CHIN have already gone through one or two motors and their cars are only 3-4 years old. These are experienced drivers that know what they are doing and are able to put in the time and $$ to properly prep their cars for the weekends too.

So my question is, why does everyone say the LSX motors are so great and reliable when I know of four people with them and only one has not broken....yet.??( Hope I didn't jinx Chin)

I know people will flame me for this, but I'm seriously asking why, not making a smart ass comment.

Chin's tranny was shit when he got it, and I think I remember him saying something about his valves, or something?

True. I'm not bashing the motor because I have driven ZO6's and I would have traded my 240 for one, but I just am very skeptical about how much everyone seems to rave about them....

To answer your previous questions.

1) They are light and compact
2) They are simple and easy to work on
3) They are very potent and inexpensive to mod
4) They are also efficient ... getting nearly 30mpg in a car that weighs over 3500lbs thats powered by a 5.7L v8 is astonishing (considering smaller displacement sports cars get crappier gas mileage)
5) Parts are extremly easy to come by
6) They sound fucking awesome.

I just don't see how someone can hate on LSx V8's.

the LS6 is the engine you find 01 to 04 ZO6. the LS7 is the top of the line LSx from chevy right now.
