Most were made in Japan, but even the "90" 300zx if you look on the inside if your door above the jams it will tell you when it was made, and some 90s were built in 89. Those models are "known" I guess you could say, for having softer valves. The Japan models ARE called 1989 300zx Twin Turbo's and the USDM models are called 1990 300zx's but WERE made in '89.

It doesn't matter when they were built. It's when they are sold and labeled. Sure my 240SX was probably built in 1989, but it was sold as a 1990 car, therefore it's a 1990 Nissan 240SX. Your post is irrelevant.
