Candies? Usually? Seriously? Remind me never to take my car to you for a repaint. You are COMPLETELY WRONG.

What manufacturer does OEM paint jobs that are candies?

3 stage pearl jobs? Yes

3 stage candies? NO NO NO

EDIT: RX7guy that color is a basic base/clear.

"Remind me never to take my car to you for a repaint"
dont come to me for a repaint, i reminded you, i'm only going by motorcycles, factory mica's on bikes are candies, i only know because i just went through this with a suzuki i repainted, thats why suzuki gets so much for replacement plastics, because its factory candy paint, i dont really care anyway lol, thats why i dont paint much, cuz i hate it! and i wont do anything that isnt factory either, i only do 2 stage work.

and to answer your question, that color is a 2 stage, the base has the pearles in it already, then straight clearcoat ontop. accourding to mazda anyway.

I don't know which Suzuki you just repainted but their blues are pearls not candies. Even then the pearls are in the base and are not three stage jobs.

it was a 2004 katana mica blue and finish master looked it up and told me it was a 3 stage candy paint, they gave me the price on it, and i told them to stuff it, i repainted the bike with viper blue, it was almost a dead match and saved the guy over 400 bucks in paint. but regardless, thats why i do more bodywork then painting, i stick to easy 2 stage paint.

alot of newer paints have pearles right in the base, others use mid coats, and you can even spray a base and mix pearl right into the clear and shoot over the base. i repainted a honda rc-51 that was black, resprayed it black, then mixed a little royal violet pearl into the clear and shot over the black. gave it multiple looks at all angles.
here it looks black:

here you can see the purples, reds and blues. different looking.
